We would appreciate any comments or additional places to stay from Backpackers that have traveled through Chile.

Hostal: Hostel

Hospedaje: a family home with rooms for rent with a shared bathroom. Normally includes breakfast.

Residencial / Pensión: Usually in a family home or a small hotel offering a room with a private bathroom. Sometimes there will be more long-term lodgers staying at a Pensión.

Ex French Consul's residence from 1850. Great guys here, highly recommended. Just a few blocks walk to the center of Coquimbo.
