If you are looking to really get away and relax in the south of Chile you should check out this friendly hostel located by the seaside with its own beach only 25km from the city of Puerto Montt.

Their services are geared directly towards backpackers who want to escape into nature but still enjoy some of the comforts of home.

They offer a great optional breakfast in the morning, served with a smile. Guests are also always welcome to use the kitchen if they want to. (There is a restaurant just a 5 km walk away if you don't feel up to cooking yourself). There is also a grill if your want to have a barbecue.

The hostel is small and very personal, accommodating up to 11 people per night, so that you are able to relax without music blaring until the wee hours. Feel free to read one of the many books in the library, cook in the kitchen, do your laundry, play in the garden (they have a trampoline!) and hang out in the comfortable common areas as if you were in your own home. You may even want to rent a bike and have a roam around the land.

The hostel is located only 14 km from the entrance to the Andino Alerce National Park. A perfect resting spot if you are looking to do a bit of hiking in the area or even some river and sea kayaking.

The greatest treasure that Hostal Mozart has to offer is its very own beautiful private beach. While the waters of Puerto Montt may be too cold to swim in, you will love sitting out on the green lawn and watching the clouds roll by over the peaceful ocean. If you're lucky, you may even see a dolphin going by or a sea-lion lazing around on a nearby rock.

How to Get There

From Puerto Montt take the Carretera Austral South to Km25 (the Carretera Austral is also known as Ruta 7). Buses run from Puerto Montt to Metri, Lenca, La Area, or Hornopieren. Hop on any of these buses and let the driver know you want to be dropped off just in front of Hostal Mozart. They are well known in the area and you shouldn't have any problems being dropped off at the big yellow sign (which is on the right). You can also arrive by car or bike in the same way.
