Chile Tours

Tours around Pucón in the South of Chile

Volcano Climbing

Volcán Villarica (Volcano)

If you are coming to Pucón to climb the volcano - and everyone should - then let the expert guides of Ronco Track lead the way. This five hour hike up the mountain is a laborious feat, but well worth the sweat for the spectacular views (and bragging rights). Ronco Track recommends that you ride the ski lift up part way, although it is an optional addition it allows you dedicate all of your energy to the top part of the mountain and reaching the volcano's crater... the ultimate goal.

Depending on the season you can slide back down the snowy part of the volcano, toboggan style.

The trip begins at 7am in the Ronco Track office where you will be outfitted with all the climbing equipment you will need. (Jacket, pant covers, snow boots, gaiters, hat, gloves, gas mask, crampons, back pack and ice axe). The Round trip should bring you back to the city of Pucón by 6pm. Trips leave year round depending on weather conditions.

Safety Note: Like all responsible tour guides, Ronco Track's primary concern is your safety, constantly changing weather conditions could cause the groups to turn back. There is no guarantee that you will reach the summit.

*** Rob and Angélica from SouthAmerica.cl have done the Volcano Climb in Pucón and highly recommend it!!! We also recommend taking the ski-lift for the first part

Volcán Lanín (Volcano)

A unique experience and a two day journey, Ronco Tracks leads groups up this volcano located on the border of Argentina and Chile, 79 kms from Pucon. Hikes go up anytime from November to April depending on the weather. With an expert guide leading the way, you can expect to spend several hours climbing to the top where you can not only see the volcano's crater, but also a view over the four other volcanoes in the area, a truly spectacular sight. Ronco Track provides: Jacket, pant covers, snow boots, gaiters, hat, gloves, gas mask, crampons, back pack, ice axe, camping equipment, transfer to the volcano, the park entrance, and food.

Ethnic Tourism

Discovering the Mapuche

Ronco Track invites you to learn about the native Chilean culture of the Mapuches with their exclusive offer. The excursion takes you to meet the people of the Currarrehue community. You will have the opportunity to speak with some of the Mapuche people who still continue to live with their ancient traditions, farming and keeping alive their legends and myths. The program will allow you to share a meal with a Mapuche family, to sit around the fire and learn from their ancient wisdom that has been passed down by word of mouth through the ages. You will also be taught to play the game "palin" where you can participate. You will also have the opportunity to learn about the farming and fabric making processes of the Mapuche. This is an opportunity you shouldn't miss!

Rafting

Ronco Track offers two different rafting trips on the lower and upper Trancura river. The lower offers class III rapids, perfect for beginners and families looking for a bit of a thrill. 1½ hours are spent in the boat, with the trip taking 3 hours in total.

The upper section of the Trancura is comprised of class IV and V rapids (class V is the highest level for commercially raftable rivers). This is an exciting way to experience nature and challenge yourself for 1½ hours of jolting up and down and navigating Chile's wild waters.

Ronco Track provides guests with wetsuits, life jackets, water shows, safety helmet, and wind jacket. Guides are in every boat instructing you how to paddle down the river and on the upper course there is a safety boat to help any unfortunate soul who hops out for a swim. Trips leave year round.

Four Wheeling Excursions

One of Ronco Track's great programs is the four-wheeling adventure!

No other tour agency offers this kind of tour in Pucón, which allows you to take in the beautiful nature surrounding you in a whole new way. Cross rivers, go up mountains and find new views of the snow capped active volcano.

All trips include all necessary gear (helmets, goggles, gloves, jacket and pants covers) and a talk on safety and rules driving these vehicles. The trails vary in length and difficulty, depending on the drivers' skill level and time available. Trips go out daily starting at 10am. Life insurance agreement must be signed beforehand.

Mountain Biking

If you want to venture out on your own and explore both the city of Pucón and the nature trails in the area, you can rent bikes from Ronco Tracks, by the hour, half day or full day.

Horseback Riding

Ronco Track offers two different options for horseback riding, one along the River Liucura and the other going to the Mapuche community Quelhue. Unlike other tours, here you are allowed to gallop and enjoy riding horses at your own pace rather than a simple walk behind a guide. There are introductions before you begin, altered to your specific knowledge and level of riding.
