A Chunk of Chile with a Dash of South America

Living and travelling in South America from our base in Chile since 1997. I have personally experienced the extremes here, living in a shed without a bathroom in a poor dangerous part of town to the other extreme of having an elegant dinner with the President at the palace. This blog is about things that I have done or that have caught my attention here as well as travel information that may be useful.

Stars Wars Exhibition in Chile

Not exactly something to do with the typical Chilean image of llamas up in the Andean desert spitting on passerbys or whatever they do up there, but an event that is happening here nonetheless.
An exhibition of over 250 original pieces from the Star Wars Saga will be on display in Chile during most of March. This includes life size space vehicles to the miniatures used for classic scenes as well as life-size mannequins in costumes that were used. This Exhibition has been attended by over 6 million fans in cities that have included New York, Tokyo, Paris, London, Sao Paolo and now Santiago.

This is the when and where for the exhibition:
5th – 30th of March 2009
Espacio Kennedy
Avda. Kennedy 5601, 5th Floor
Las Condes

I admit that I enjoyed the first three original movies (IV, V, VI) but found the newish digitalized ones a major let down. Having said that, since these movies were something I was brought up with (yes, I had those little rubber figures as a kid), I might just a pay the exhibition a visit when it comes.
Do you think you will go to this Star Wars exhibition?

When we were in Sao Paolo in 2007, we accidentally stumbled across the Leonardo Da Vinci Exhibition as we were roaming around Ibirapuera Park. Even though everything was in Portuguese, we found it to be a highlight of the day. Fascinating stuff!

What are some memorable exhibitions you have visited that have nothing to do with the country you are in?
