A Chunk of Chile with a Dash of South America

Living and travelling in South America from our base in Chile since 1997. I have personally experienced the extremes here, living in a shed without a bathroom in a poor dangerous part of town to the other extreme of having an elegant dinner with the President at the palace. This blog is about things that I have done or that have caught my attention here as well as travel information that may be useful.

Potosí Sucre Popayán Cathedral

We have some new additions to our website:

Bolivia - Potosí - Gateway to the old colonial silver mines.
Bolivia - Sucre - The old colonial capital of the Americas.
Colombia - Las Lajas Cathedral - Perched on the side of a cliff, this cathedral is like none other that you have seen. Definitely something you should stop off to see, even if it is just for a cool photo to brag about to your friends.
Colombia - Popayán - One of Colombia's top colonial cities nestled in the Andes Mountains.

Remember that if anyone has any suggestions or recommendations about something they saw, did or experienced in any of these places, we always love to know.

Cheers

Zipaquira Salt Cathedral and Bogotá

One place that I visited last year and highty recommend is the undeground Salt Cathedral at Zipaquira in Colombia. This Cathedral with its many chambers hidden deep underground is entirely made out of salt. The subdued lighting gives the entire place an interesting eerie feeling.

There is even a replica of Michaelangelo's Creation of Man (you know, the one with God and Man's fingers about to touch) sculptured out of the Salt rock.

We have also added a page about the Bogotá, the Capital of Colombia:

Bogota - Colombia

Hope you enjoy them!!!
